For years Steve had an interest in the Stratos, since he first saw them racing. While he was living in England he was one day driving through Cheshire when he saw a car show. Curious he went in and spent some time gazing at a Transformer HF 2000. In the end he went home with just a brochure but one year later he bought the car.

When he came back to New Zealand he brought his car with him. Like the original the HF2000 is sourced mainly from the same Fiat and Lancia parts bin with Fiat X19 parts here and Beta parts there. Steve's car is number 107 which means that there are a few of these running around and maybe even surpass the 500 of the original Stratos.

The HF2000 chassis is manufactured from folded steel and tube and is again modeled on the original. The body is smooth and well finished GRP thanks to the many hundreds of hours that Steve spent on it. The body is painted British Racing Red.
