From a young age Richard set a goal to one day own a Seven. After years of dreaming, a friend spotted this Seven for sale and the rest is history. The car was built in the late 1970's in Christchurch as a special and used as a club race/road car. In 1994 it was bought as a project by a car painter who made a fantastic job of the car inside and out. Powered by a Ford 1600cc crossflow with twin Webers. Richard completed 7000 road miles and many club race meetings with this configuration.

The "more power" disease hit after chasing more powerful cars around race tracks and in late 2000 the chassis was strengthened to being more capable of dealing with the power of a new engine. The old Ford was replaced with a Toyota 4AGE 1600 16v EFI. After a mechanical failure at the Charity Classic in 2002 a 4AGE 20v and Link ECU was fitted giving a big increase in performance.

The original four speed Escort gearbox was replaced with a Toyota 5 speed unit and Triumph Herald suspension has been replaced with Carerra adjustable units. Lately, the Herald top and bottom arms have been replaced with customised Fraser Cars units.

A complete set of gauges tops off the interior. There is even a glove box! A distinctive feature of this car is the "droop snoot" nose cone that helps the car stand out from the rest. In its current configuration the car has completed several track days and over 2000 road Kms. The next goal for Richard is to find a way to break 1:20 at Manfeild.
