For many years Warren wanted to build a car, the Lotus 7 did not appeal to him as it was a car that everybody seemed to be building. SprinsterHall915However he liked the 7’s style of driving which was a simple car with plenty of raw power. America provided the inspiration in the style of the Curtis 500 and Allard J2 cars. These cars of the 50’s are of a similar style to what is still used by sprint cars on speedway circuits around the world. Naturally to be American it would have to be powered by a V8. Warren’s is powered by a motor with a block from a 57 Chevrolet, heads from a 64 Chevrolet, Isky camshaft, and an Edleblock carburettor all driving through a Toyota 4 speed gearbox to a live rear axle.

Front and rear suspension has been kept in the classic style of cars of that era with a beam axles front and rear held in place by a 4 bar, coil over shock, panhard rod suspension system. There is no fibreglass in this car with all the panels being hand formed by Warren out of aluminium and steel. The steering wheel was also made by Warren. Headlights were found at a swapmeet and Warren thinks that they came off a 1940’s Ford. Taillights are after market while the instruments (Smiths) come from early Vanguards and Humbers.
