Alex and Ron entered a joint venture to produce what is hoped to be a very competitive race car. The body and chassis are totally from the MacDonald clan with Alex’s son putting a lot of thought into the body design. The chassis is designed and totally built at Almac Cars with special fabricated front wishbones. An amazing thing is that this car was built in just over 2 months which beats Ron’s earlier 3 month record for his last car. (See James 1989 profile)

The engine is a slightly modified 4.1 litre Rover with a dry sump oil system designed by Ron. Carburetion is by quad downdraft Delorto’s. Alex is intending to produce future road cars using a Commodore donor car and this racer is the first step towards that process with a Commodore rear axle and disk brakes all round. Front uprights are Holden HQ which are still in production with Holden V8 4 pot callipers.

At the cars first outing at Manfield it achieved a very credible time of 1.23 in spite of having brake problems. It is intended that the car will be continuously developed to make it faster and better with each passing race.
