Having been fired up to build an exact copy of an SS100, but put off by the horrendous price of the UK kit (Suffolk SS100 $90,000 app.) 
Dennis located the Auckland made 'Swallow 100' kit, which not an exact replica, was priced more to his pocket. Details of the kit have been changed to allow it to take more modern running gear. Body panels are fibreglass with a metal radiator surround.
From there he was able to locate a partially completed kit which was at rolling chassis stage. As often happens many kits are purchased and the builder realises that he/she may have bitten off more than he can chew. In this case it was to Dennis' advantage. A price was agreed on the car purchased and taken to our 'beach house' at Waikanae. Many a happy holiday was spent working on the car and as it was a holiday project time was never an issue.
The 'auto' gearbox has been changed for a five speed manual. A key reason for this was to replace a dangerously modified steering column. Front and rear suspension is Holden Torana. Daihatsu seats reshaped and recovered in leather topped off with a Walnut dashboard and electronic gauges. The headlights are refurbished original Lucas's modified for semi-sealed beams and have been worth the work.
