Roger picked up the chassis in November 2000 and returned the completed car for sign off in October 2001. The only fault it had was a speedo cable that kept falling off. (Since rectified.) The car was built to a relatively low cost spec with standard 4AGE, live axle, powder blue gel coat cycle guards & nose, had polished alloy panels, leather but no roof. Even though he was working to a strict budget the end result had to “look right” so everything possible was bought from Fraser Cars, ensuring a factory look.
Roger had always wanted a Series 3 Lotus Seven or a Caterham but there was no way the budget could stretch that far. The idea of building a car also appealed and the Fraser fitted the bill on all these counts. This is the longest time that Roger has owned a car and it still brings a smile to his face on a Sunday afternoon blast up the Paekakariki Hill road.
