Barry has been a big sports car fan for a long time especially of the CANAM and Le Mans cars. He first saw a Saker SV1 some years ago at a motor show and was impressed! Circumstances at the time prevented serious thought about actually owning one. Early in 2000 he became aware that this Saker was for sale as a runner, untrimmed and unpainted. It was purchased and then followed the discovery that Barry did not fit in it. It took several months of fiddling and poking before it was a comfortable fit.
There are two key differences between this car and other SV1s. Firstly it has a 3.8 ltr Holden V6, which is a very lively, touquey motor and quite compact in the engine bay. The second difference is a dropped floor pan. It had been dropped by some 2 inchs to accommodate the size and feet of the original owner. Not a major problem, however it does reduce what is already very limited road clearance. The dashboard is out of a Toyota, the seats are standard Saker units with a little more padding to suit Barry.
Like all homebuilt cars it still needs some adjustments, and most likely always will.
