Barry has always liked Jaguars especially the big cats of yesteryear. Jaguar Xk140’s were at prices he could only dream of. About five years ago he read about the Aristocat kit (an XK 140 kit) and the thing that sold it to him was the fact that it only used Jaguar donor parts. The principal donor is the XJ6. The finished car is still pure Jaguar. The only non Jaguar parts were the 40mm galvanized space frame chassis and the fibreglass body.

Using modern Jaguar parts the Aristocat had to make some concessions to history. Hence to fit the slightly wider front and rear end suspension, from an XJ6, in the car was widened 125mm. The bonus of this was a more comfortable interior. The grill is also 75mm wider and comes from a Mk 2 Jaguar allowing more air to get through to the radiator. Mk 2 bumpers were also used and widened in the middle. All other dimensions are accurate to the original.

However Barry never intended this to be a copy of the original. The interior has been updated with the more modern XJ6 dash panel. The windscreen is flat instead of split to allow the easier fitting of the soft top which Barry made for it. The car has been fitted with an automatic gearbox mainly because manual XJ6 gearboxes are so rare. All the upholstery and timber work was done by Barry and looks extremely professional. The car is red with a black interior.
