Mike has always been keen on building a car and always liked the traditional shape of the MG's. When club member Derrick Halford decided to buy a new house Mike jumped at the chance to buy his Almac. At that time Derrick had been using it for his everyday transport. The car features a hard, imitation fiberglass, soft top from Almac Cars. Mike hopes to get a soft top for it one day.
The car is coloured British Racing Green. It has a Mk 5 Triumph Herald chassis. This is because the final chassis was the sum of two Mk2 chassis' and Mk 1 chassis put together to make a final "Mk 5" chassis. The car features custom made grill and door hinges which were cast in aluminum at Neals foundry in Lower Hutt. Originally the Almac TC was produced with a fiberglass grill only. The instruments look like Fiat 132 but only Fiat 132 faces were used. Due to several engine changes in its life it now has a Humber 80 speedo and a heavily modified Tacho to cope with an extra two cylinders that the motor grew along the way.
