Mike has always been interested in classic thirties sports cars, he knew he could never afford a real one. Having always tinkered with cars and modified cars, he always had in the back of his mind to build one. Then came compliance and certification requirements, he figured there was less work involved in building what he wanted from scratch as opposed to dismantling and rebuilding a basket case. Plus he wanted a car that looked the part, was reliable, cheap to maintain, and could keep up with modern traffic.
Steel was used as he hated fibreglass. All that sanding and smell. Real cars aren't made of fibreglass. The car is used almost daily to get work and back. Its great stress release on a sunny Sunday, with the roof down, being waved at by real sports car drivers. Older folk look and wonder what it is, it's been called everything from a Fiat to a Mercedes. Plus it does 130 odd kilometres on ten litres gas.
